Don't miss your chance to be a part of the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival's 10th Anniversary season. See one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies, Twelfth Night as internationally renowned director David H. Bell whisks you off to turn-of-the-century Russia for ravishing romance, side-splitting humor, and some of the most famous characters ever to grace the stage.
Shipwrecked twins set this tale of unlikely love and mistaken identity in bittersweet motion. Viola, separated from her brother Sebastian and now alone in the world, disguises herself as a servant boy and falls hopelessly in love with the duke she serves. But the duke pursues Countess Olivia whose adoring gaze falls on the duke's new page -- Viola dressed as a boy!
Bell says this of his vision for the production, "This is a world where an embrace of the illusion of love overpowers the thing itself, and romantic fixations encourage the characters to all sorts extreme comic excess. Populated by unreasoning romantics, driven mad by the illusion of love - Twelfth Night is a glittering world of fools."
Will Duke Orsino win Olivia's hand? Will Viola reveal her true identity? What's happened to the long-lost Sebastian? The answers will delight you an all-star cast from New York, Stratford and Chicago take to the Decio Mainstage in this most delicious of midsummer comedies! Two weeks only!
