Learning Beyond the Classics
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
With Sylvia Sidney, Oskar Homolka, Desmond Tester
Not Rated, 76 minutes, Blu-ray

Based on Joseph Conrad’s The Secret Agent, a ring of saboteurs is causing havoc in London with a series of explosive terrorist attacks. Karl Verloc (Oscar Homolka) is part of the group, but he maintains a cover as a kind movie theater owner. His wife (Sylvia Sidney) is beginning to suspect something, though, and she’s not alone as Scotland Yard closes in. What neither of them know, however, is the manner by which Verloc uses film itself to upend social order.

Free for ND, SMC, HC, and IUSB students.
