Justice (Janet Jackson) grieves for her boyfriend, a victim of gun violence in South Central Los Angeles. Mired in depression and devoted to solitude, her main outlet is poetry (ghostwritten for the film by Maya Angelou). Hit on at work by a postal worker named Lucky (Tupac Shakur), Justice rebuffs him, but the two ultimately share a road trip together where each begins filing down the other’s personal fences.
