This event is at LaBar Recital Hall in O'Neill Hall of Music.
Founded in 2008, iconoclastic Brooklyn Rider surpasses previous milestones in excellence by approaching the string quartet with an omnivore's appetite — a medium with deep historical roots, it inspires endless possibilities for invention.
The ensemble delivers spirited performances satisfying audiences from SXSW to Carnegie Hall. Projects range from collaborating with Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and retired New York City Ballet prima ballerina Wendy Whelan to 2021's Grammy-nominated recording Healing Modes featuring Beethoven's towering Opus 132 interlaced with new commissions exploring subjects like U.S.-Mexico border conflict and the mental health epidemic. The quartet's versatility is one of the wonders of current music.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.
Co-sponsored by the Department of Music. Made possible by the Renaldo-Ferguson Family Endowment for the Performing Arts.
