The four March sisters have been part of American libraries and reading nooks for almost as long as the University of Notre Dame has been around. Louisa May Alcott's timeless band of sisters has been adapted for film previously, but perhaps never with as much panache or splash as when Greta Gerwig (director of Barbie) released this film as the pandemic was dawning. Meg (Emma Watson), Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Beth (Eliza Scanlen), and Amy (Florence Pugh) experience the many seasons of New England life, including the rivalries, heartbreaks, and joys that come with such a warm home.
