The Odyssey by Homer is certainly having a big year. While Christopher Nolan's film is being lavished with praise for its exacting adaptation, the Coen Brothers famously never read the actual epic poem prior to adapting it here to 1930s Mississippi. With a soundtrack that won the Album of the Year Grammy, O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a historical musical epic—not exactly traditional Coen Brothers fare. The plot follows Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney), who is on the lam with two other men who escape from hard labor and encounter all sorts of Greek drama as Ulysses attempts to return to his Penelope.
