Leading up to February’s Austenfest film festival at the Browning Cinema and April’s production of Pride and Prejudice by Notre Dame’s Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, we caught up with Notre Dame student Rose Anderson for a chat about the ever-lasting pop culture influence of the Georgian era author of six novels, starting with Sense and Sensibility.
Anderson, whose status as a “Janeite” and stage manager for Pride and Prejudice, gives her unique perspective on all things Austen-y. Learn how you, too, can rank your standing as a “Janeite,” what reanimated Austen’s popularity long before zombies and what is so swoon-worthy about these beloved novels (and films) of manners—besides Colin Firth.
