This Learning Beyond the Classics course zones in on a unique facet of the American criminal justice system: the death penalty. We will unpack the history of capital punishment through film, allowing for a better sense of (1) how the criminal justice and entertainment industries have interplayed and (2) how media has been and might be used to address staggering inequalities and injustices found within the criminal justice system.
