Nanovic Film Series
Directed by Jonathan Glazer
With Sandra Hüller, Christian Friedel, Johann Karthaus
Rated PG-13, 105 minutes, DCP
In German, Polish, and Yiddish with English subtitles
Jonathan Glazer's (Sexy Beast, Under the Skin) loose adaptation of Martin Amis' novel places the viewer as close to Auschwitz without entering the concentration camp. That proximity comes from following the domestic dramas of the commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel), and his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller), as they strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp. The juxtaposition offers thoughts on how we (don't) see historical atrocities with commentary that extends from the archives into today.
This is a free but ticketed event. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the Ticket Office one hour prior to the performance. To guarantee your seat, please pick up your tickets at least 15 minutes prior to the show. In the event of a sell-out, unclaimed tickets will be used to seat patrons waiting on standby.
