Emmanuel Gras Director Spotlight
Emmanuel Gras is scheduled to appear live!

A Cow's Life (2011)
Directed by Emmanuel Gras
Not Rated, 62 minutes, DCP

This documentary, nominated for a César Award, takes viewers to the fields, where one sees the cows, wide in grass or grazing peacefully. Large placid animals which one believes to know because they are livestock. How are they overlooked? How are they hidden to us in plain sight? Placing viewers directly in the middle of a herd and following the cows' rhythm, A Cow's Life attends and fixes our gaze to their graze in order to reconsider our connections to other animals, time, and what we can resee.

A Living Being (2013)
Directed by Emmanuel Gras
Not Rated, 17 minutes, DCP
In French with English subtitles

A male voice describes, with ruthless precision, the physical and mental journey of a man who has just become homeless. Behind the words, we sense the empathy of someone who's already been there. Images of the streets of Paris, passers-by, benches, dark corners that could be used for shelter.

This is a free but ticketed event. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the Ticket Office one hour prior to the performance. To guarantee your seat, please pick up your tickets at least 15 minutes prior to the show. In the event of a sell-out, unclaimed tickets will be used to seat patrons waiting on standby.

Co-presented by the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts, the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, the Nanovic Institute of European Studies, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and the Meg and John P. Brogan Endowment for Documentary Film.
