New Jersey’s Jessica Vosk keeps writing her own fairy tale with her September 23 performance at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

Grammy-nominated actress and singer Jessica Vosk’s career spans some of the world’s most coveted musical theater titles and concert stages. She is known for her lead performance as the green-skinned Elphaba in Wicked. Vosk played the iconic character for her Broadway debut at the Gershwin Theatre from July 2018 to May 2019, including the cultural tsunami’s 15th anniversary. That show is why Vosk is no stranger to The Bend. Did you see Elphaba in Wicked’s second national tour that first arrived in South Bend in September 2016? That was Vosk blowing you out of your Morris Performing Arts Center seat. Reminisce on her time in the company by watching her go green and defying gravity.

The former Wall Street banker knows how to time her exits and do the work to land on her feet. Let’s tick her career moves here. She left a career in finance. She gets cast in the fastest Broadway musical to earn $1 billion. Records two albums. Accepts an invite to Carnegie Hall and performs to a sold-out audience — with special guest Kristin Chenoweth no less. And this summer made a London debut at Cadogan Hall. In. A. Decade.

Vosk has said, “This career requires hard work, and you have to remember to hurry up.” Not hurry up and wait, but hurry up and do. 2018’s Wild and Free, with tunes from The Greatest Showman to Sia’s “Chandelier,” was crowdfunded. Vosk told Billboard, “People had been asking me for a really long time about doing an album. So I was chatting with my team, and they suggested it. I hate asking people for money — that’s so not my jam — but finally, I came around and said, ‘I’ll give myself 30 days, and if I don’t get the money, that’s it, I’m not asking again.’ In 72 hours, we raised over $35,000. I was stunned.”

Now it’s your turn to be stunned by funny girl Vosk and her in-demand cabaret show. DPAC has selected another incredible season opener by inviting the star to make a return stop in South Bend for her Presenting Series debut.

Broadway is back in the Leighton Concert Hall! Expect an enchanting evening with the powerhouse vocals and sidesplitting humor of Jessica Vosk.
