Before Glee (2009–2015) made Morrison a pop culture phenom, he was already among Broadway’s brightest stars with roles as Link Larkin in Hairspray, Lt. Cable in South Pacific, and the lovestruck Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza, the latter earning him a 2005 Tony nomination.
As the Presenting Series season opener, Morrison follows musical theater luminaries Patti LuPone, Kristin Chenoweth, Leslie Odom, Jr., and Renee Elise Goldsberry to the Leighton Concert Hall stage. At the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, Morrison performs backed by his five-piece band on Friday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Now marking more than 20 years in showbiz, Morrison’s return to Broadway began with the role of Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie in 2015’s Finding Neverland. He earned his third Drama Desk Award nomination in the leading role of the musical, exploring Barrie’s relationship with the family of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, whose family eventually became Barrie’s inspiration to write the children’s literature classic.
With plenty of touring under his belt, Morrison has made his reputation on sophisticated sets showcasing his triple-threat talents.
