Alonzo King LINES Ballet Presenting Series
Alonzo King LINES Ballet is a celebrated contemporary ballet company guided since 1982 by the unique artistic vision of Alonzo King. Born in Albany, Georgia, to a prominent 1960s civil rights family with ties to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, he learned early on the importance of aligning actions with beliefs.

A noted balletmaster, King creates works that draw on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions, investing classical ballet with new expressive potential. Understanding ballet as a science — one founded on universal, geometric principles of energy and evolution — King continues to develop a new language of movement from its classical forms and techniques.

Extraordinary LINES Ballet dancers and inventive choreography tear down the fourth wall for a profound sense of shared humanity.

Made possible by the Robert M. and Ricki Conway Endowment for Excellence for the Performing Arts and the Charles T. Morse Endowment for Excellence in the Performing Arts.
