Classics in the Browning
Directed by Prince, David Hogan, Albert Magnoli
Starring Prince, Sheila E., Sheena Easton
Rated PG-13, 85 minutes, Blu-ray
The Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving, the Browning Cinema turns the volume up a little louder and lets loose a concert film. This year, we're uncorking a film loved by critics but largely unwatched by audiences: Prince's Sign 'o' the Times. As Prince's popularity expanded outside the United States and to further that growth, Prince toured in Europe to promote his album of the same name. This film was meant to blend footage from two shows in Rotterdam and Antwerp; however, the film was deemed unusable. The result is a hybrid with a reshoot at Paisley Park Studios meant to convey the energy of those large European audiences, but Prince still delivers the musicality and showmanship that defined his concerts and career.
Free for ND, SMC, HC, and IUSB Students.
