Grammy-winning ensemble Apollo's Fire extends the center's Yuletide season of celebrations with Praetorius Christmas Vespers, a luminous recreation of a 17th-century German holiday celebration. Complete with an unsurpassed orchestra playing period instruments, an excellent chorus of Apollo's singers, superb vocalists, and festive pageantry, their program offers an enchanting adventure through early baroque music in all its spiritual and acoustic spectacle.
Encounter all the warmth and heart of the most wonderful time of the year in this time capsule of a concert. Imagine being transported to a candlelit cathedral, filled with the sounds of joy, reverence, and wonder.
Since 1992, founder and Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell's devotion to the baroque ideal has been that music should evoke an intense sense of awe. Apollo's Fire beautifully conveys the magic and majesty of Christmas and an uplifting of humanity, as 16th-century German composer Michael Praetorius intended.
Made possible by a gift from Victoria and David Temple. Co-presented by the Glynn Family Honors Program.
