Twenty-five years ago, Quentin Tarantino rolled into Cannes riding a wave of support for Reservoir Dogs. His film, Pulp Fiction, was the surprise Palme d’Or winner, generating boos from the audience which were met with Tarantino flicking off a particularly vocal naysayer. And Tarantino has maintained that polarizing relationship with audiences since this film, which uses a best-selling soundtrack to weave together multiple storylines involving esoteric hitmen, a Band-Aided gangster, a former actress who wants a dancing trophy, a calm fixer, a boxer on the lam, and twitchy armed robbers who don’t want anymore to move or else.
