Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) revisit their time-traveling-via-DeLorean hijinx from the first installment of the series. This time, more than just backwards paths are on the table. Having previously visited 1955 in Part I, Marty zips forward to 2015 in order to stop a robbery that would undo the McFly family. Entering a world of hoverboards and product placements, Marty and his travels spark butterfly effects that force him to solve issues in 1955, 1985, and 2015.
