There's a story that at the premiere of The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T there was only one patron who stayed the whole time, and it was a boy waiting for his parents to pick him up. Unsurprisingly, the film co-written by Ted Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) didn't fare too well with audiences originally. As decades passed and perhaps as Dr. Seuss became familiar to children worldwide, this musical fantasy has gained much more support and a lot of love for its surreal take on childhood frustrations. A youngster with a dislike for his mean-spirited piano teacher dreams he's trapped in the kingdom of the fearsome Dr. T, who has enslaved hundreds of little kids and forced them to practice on the world's largest piano until they drop.
