Maestro Alastair Willis of the South Bend Symphony leads the orchestra as guest conductor in a program featuring selections from Sergei Prokofiev's acknowledged masterpiece, his ballet Romeo and Juliet. Actors from Shakespeare At Notre Dame will add dramatic readings from the play (and will also deliver Alastair's own narration, written in The Bard's signature iambic pentameter blank verse.)
Also on the program is Mozart's scintillating final piano concerto K. 595 in B-flat major, with ND faculty soloist Daniel Schlosberg, and an intriguing new work, Colin Jacobsen's "Ascending Bird" for strings and percussion.
